The Fairbanks mining district was originally mapped 15 years ago by Metz (1982), Robinson (1982), and Bundtzen (1982). The final map product was not published until 1990 (Robinson and others, 1990). The earlier work did not include surficial coverage and due to extensive cover the bedrock geology was based on only a few percent rock exposure.
